Danielle Amato-Milligan has over 25 years of experience as a strategic advisor to nonprofit organizations, specializing in arts and culture, social justice, higher education, health and human services, environmental, and international relief. She advises boards and leadership on development and fundraising, including endowment and capital campaigns, where she has conducted 20+ feasibility studies, capacity building, governance, strategic and scenario planning, leadership development, and organizational change management.
Danielle served as Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Strategist at Bank of America, providing tailored consulting services
nationally to major clients with endowment investments ranging from $25 to $200 million and up. She was also an original member of the Art Services Group, offering bespoke consulting and business services to art collectors and cultural institutions.
She held senior leadership and fundraising positions at cultural organizations, with a proven track record in principal gift fundraising, and demonstrated ability to create a pathway from cultivation to solicitation to the closing of principal gifts and significant grants, including the Museum for African Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Queens Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Danielle received her B.A. from New York University with one of the first interdisciplinary B.A. honors degrees in medieval and renaissance studies, East & West, with a minor in linguistics.
Danielle currently serves on the Board of the Foundation for the Advancement in Conservation as President and the Holt/Smithson Foundation as President. She frequently speaks on topics related to philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, high-net-worth and multi-generational donor motivations, philanthropy in the arts and culture sector, and cultural heritage preservation.
